JEREMY COMINS

"PAPER & WOOD"

The Artist Speaks About His Work...

I use carving and construction techniques to express abstract and metaphorical concepts in wood and paper. The abstraction can be taken from reality or created from imagination. It can be inspired by figurative imagery and forms from nature.

These watercolors are inspired by crevice formations which appear to me to be small intimate spaces. Though not rendered sculptures, they have a sculptural feeling and the colors are limited to earth tones.

Using various wood joining and carving techniques enables me to make sculptures that are light and airy as well as dense and solid.
